Descaling Avent IQ24 Steam sterilizer ?
Hi there have lost instructions for our steriliser and haven't a clue how to descale it, had it 3 weeks and remember reading it needs to be done every 4 weeks??
We have the sachets just need to know how much water and what cycle to pop it on.

I have the old Avent steriliser and a mothercare one at my mothers house and use the same combination for both so should work for the IQ version, 7 oz of water with lid of on highest temperature with full sachet for 30sec to 1 min after which you should see scale or dirt bubbling up. turn off steriliser at plug allow to cool and then empty and rinse with cold water. run one normal cycle with usual amount of water but no other utensils in it. When your sachets run out buy a box of citric acid from your local chemist and use a level 5ml spoonful
which is equivilant to what is in the sachet. also if you live in a hard water area you need to clean it once every 4 weeks if in a soft water area once every 8 weeks is enough. I have had both of my sterilisers for over 5 years and have been loaned out to different family members so regular cleaning will keep them working for many years to come.
