Not expressing enough breastmilk when pumping?
My little boy is 6 weeks and Today i tried expressing some breastmilk using an Avent Isis (manual pump). When i used it nothing seemed to be coming out - only a few squirts. I checked all the bits to make sure they were in correctly. This is the first time i have used one, so not sure if i'm not making enough milk, not using it the right way or if the pump isnt working properly. I've spent $100 on this pump and going to be a bit upset if its not going to work for me. I'm just not sure what to do.
The first few times you use a pump you may not express much, if any, milk. It's almost like you have to train your breasts for the pump. Just stay with it. Pump a few times a day and you will be producing in no time. I had the same problem in the beginning, and have been pumping for 5 months now with no problems. Just be patient and stick with it.
