Cloth Diapering question...?
Okay, sorry if I sound dumb, but I am thinking of converting to CD and I am so overwhelmed by all the choices.
I have pretty much decided between using Bum Genius 3.0 or Fuzzi Buns with the inserts.
So here are my q's:
1. Are these good brands to use?
2. Is one better than the other?
3. What type of insert is the best? (hemp, fleece, etc.)
4. How many inserts do you use per diaper?
5. What's the difference between an insert and a doubler?
Sorry about all the q's, I just want to be 100% clear on everything before I invest the money.
EDIT: So doublers are like a back up for a heavy wetter?
1. Yep, I use both
2. I prefer the bumGenius, but they're both nice.
3. Both of them will come with microfleece inserts. Use the inserts that come with the diapers. Hemp is good in addition to the microfiber for heavy wetters or overnight. The fleece absorbs quick, but not a night's worth of urine, hemp absorbs slowly but will hold a ton.
4. Just one for a normal wetter, two for a heavy wetter or overnight.
5. Doublers are smaller and go in the diaper in addition to the insert, they can't stand alone.
ETA: Yes, you can use fleece or hemp. Hemp tends to be less bulky, so I prefer it, but the fleece works well too.
Most pocket one-size diapers are going to come with 2 inserts; a one-size and a newborn size. You can use the newborn insert as a doubler. Just make sure you adjust it accordingly for your baby's gender (for a boy make sure it's as far forward as it can go, for a girl keep it in the center).
