newborn necessities??
ok i'm getting so close to having this baby and i need to know what else i'll need right after she arrives.
we have:
a bassinet
lots of newborn/0-3 month clothes and onesies
receiving blankets (probably about a dozen!)
regular blankets
baby washcloths and bath things
burp rags
tons of diapers & wipes
i want to get a bouncer or a swing, but i dont know if i'll need it right away. (?)
anything else???
oh- we also have a stroller and a car seat already too. and i'm planning on breastfeeding, but i do have formula just in case.
I have a week old daughter.
And for my daily activities... it sounds as if you already have everything that I use. (Be sure to swipe the aspirator from the hospital when you leave... I use that frequently as well.) Maybe a thermometer, just in case. That last one just kind of brought me stress. (It's only a fever if it's 100.4 or higher. - found out the hard way.) But always good to have around.
I can't tell you how many recieveing blankets we go through a day. I use them for everything though. Burp clothes, ect...
As for the bouncer or swing. I'm very much into attachment parenting... and I haven't used mine too much thus far. I have a little papasan chair that I pull into the bathroom for showers. But the swing makes me nervous because she can't hold her head up yet and it just droops forward. (I'm the typical new nervous mom)
We go through a nasty amount of wipes and diapers. Washclothes too. She's constantly got breastmilk all over her. (I'm learning too.)
Mylicon (the gas medicine) isn't a bad thing to have around. I've used it a bit so far.
For you... I'd look into nursing bras, or just someting with support that doesn't have underwire. (Ouch.) And the little nipple shields that go between the boob and bra to prevent leaking through clothes.
Lastly... if there's anyway for someone to stock up your cupboard and refridgerator. Because grocery shopping still hasn't really crossed my mind. Ask for healthy finger foods. Things I can eat with one hand while trying to feed and take care of her are awesome!
