Belt Wrap

By admin

What is the difference between a double and single wrap karate belt?

And does anyone know where I can buy a Gray Belt?

The difference in the double wrap and single wrap belt is this. There are so many children studying that martial arts these days. Young children that are to young, or immature to learn to correctly tie what you refer to as a double wrap belt. So companies developed a new belt that requires not brains or leaning to wear. It just is placed around the body once and sticks together with Velcro. The term double wrapped belt was never used to refer to martial arts belts until these new belts came out. Personally i think that anyone that can't learn to tie their belt should not be learning the martial arts. If someone is to immature or to lazy to lean how to tie their belt, then how are they possible going to learn real martial arts. To learn real martial arts takes many years of dedicated of training, and concentration. Just my opinion!

EDIT: I certainly would not have much respect for any one of high rank that would wear a belt that they were to lazy to learn to tie their belt .......

I'm not aware of any place that sells a gray belt. You might have to dye one, if you really need one. Never heard of any style using one.

EDIT

nwohioguy I'm with you. I often intentionally take notice of any martial artists that I meet that I don't know. Many high ranked black belts don't know how to tie their belts. That is a dead give away that they are not really black belts. No one above white belt has an excuse for not knowing how to correctly tie their belt. Any that do must be lazy, training in a McDojo, or Fakes pretending to be real martial artists.
